In 2022, SES recorded a moderate increase in Scope 2 emissions due to the acquisition of DRS Global Enterprise Solutions, which increased the number of third-party teleports and data centers used. Despite this increase, SES managed to keep emissions under the 2019 Scope 2 levels and reported a reduction in emissions intensity by 2.76% (CO2e/revenue) and 5.82% (CO2e/number of employees). The larger increase was seen in Scope 3 emissions, attributed to the launch of four satellites, which are accounted for in the Category 2 'Capital Goods' area of Scope 3. SES also launched an electrically powered shuttle service to reduce employee commuting emissions, which has been positively received by employees.
